There are days when you are not far from God, but you are far too busy to listen to Him. You fulfill obligations, respond to demands, produce, serve, and solve problems. No one notices that your soul is running without rest—and without direction.
The problem is not always visible sin. Sometimes it is the hurry that turns God's presence into just another item on a to-do list. We run so we won't have to feel. We fill our schedules so we won't have to face the emptiness. And we call it responsibility—when it may also be an elegant way of running away.
God did not call you to live exhausted in order to prove that you are faithful. He called you to abide. You can do many things for Him and still stop doing them with Him.
When the heart loses its silence, it begins to mistake activity for obedience. Stop before the noise makes your decisions for you. Return to the place where you don't have to impress anyone. There, God does not ask you for results—He asks you for your whole heart.
The direction you are searching for may not come while you keep on running. Perhaps it begins the moment you grow still before Him once more.
